About the House of the People

Since the Rwandan genocide in 1994, the House of the People has been providing a safe place for refugees from Rwanda to live, helping them integrate into American society, and providing them with the resources they need to succeed. My family has had the great privilege of working with the House of the People for many years, and we have seen the incredible impact that they have had on the lives of so many people.

Rwandans are some of the most resilient, kind, and loving people I have ever met. They have faced unimaginable atrocities, and yet somehow they hold no bitterness in their hearts. They are truly an inspiration to us all.

About Challenges

What is it about challenges that makes them so inspiring and compelling? When a friend, family member, or even a stranger shares that they're picking up a new hobby, quitting smoking, or training for a marathon, it resonates with us. Often, we may not immediately recognize the impact, but over time, it surfaces.

How many people do you know who are struggling with issues from the past, or who are stuck in a rut? Their focus is in the rearview mirror, and they're not moving forward. They're not growing. They're not living. Challenges can help us break us free from this cycle. They force us to live in the moment and to focus on the future. They help us to grow and to become better people.
